Lesson 4. Making Models Matter!
Objectives:
- Identify and understand different target audiences
- Articulate advocacy priorities
- Come up with modeling questions in support of advocacy priorities
In this lesson, you will get some practical experience by applying what you’ve learned thus far with your own advocacy or communication efforts.
This lesson is made up of two assignments.
Step 1. Complete the assignment: Advocacy priorities
Recall that in Lesson 1 we learned that mathematical models can be used to evaluate HIV prevention and treatment interventions or policies, to determine the impact of HIV prevention or treatment policies and interventions, to make projections about the future, and to analyze the cost and cost-effectiveness of interventions.
This exercise will help you to think about your own advocacy priorities and how mathematical modeling might contribute to them.
Step 3. Complete the assignment: Know your audience
Who are the stakeholders you are trying to influence? In this exercise, you will have the opportunity to think critically about what you know about your different audiences, including the type of information in which they will be most interested.
