    Engagement during COVID is still a challenge. Studies were put on hold and we were directed to request for approval of risk management plans before engagement could resume. We are still waiting for all approvals!

    That’s important Davila, I have personally had to sign a consent form to have my photos and information about a study taken. It is important the individuals do consent for this.

    You wouldn’t want someone to come up another time and say they were coerced. And for publication, this consent usually asked for.

    I think one of the challenges with engagement for HIV vaccines is the myths and misconceptions in the community. Many think that the vaccines will infect them with HIV and cause infertility. Researchers need to be equipped with information about vaccine development and response to vaccines to help communities understand. Research literacy is generally important!
