While we appreciate community engagement in clinical trials. There are very few stakeholders out there willing to support this noble course as a separate entity. Most of the grants for community engagement are tied to the larger research proposal. Community engagement comes as a small component to this large proposal to support the function of the research CABs. Traditionally, stakeholders engagement has been viewed in the sense of community advisory boards. These structures for many years have operated to fill fill the research requirement as a way of ticking the box and not meeting its intended objectives
