    2020 Good Participatory Practice Leadership Course

    Wits RHI in partnership with AVAC developed this course to develop and cultivate a senior cadre of stakeholder engagement trainers and leaders who are primed to champion Good Participatory Practice in the communities and countries where they work. Participants will help to identify, train and nurture the next generation of stakeholder engagement practitioners. The GPP Leadership Course builds on existing GPP training and resources to provide individuals already working in the area of engagement and/or experienced with GPP with a structured course to advance their leadership skills, training and implementation. Given the global pandemic, the 2020 cohort will be a blended approach. Participants will meet for :
    • 2 days online 26 &27 August
    • Monthly Learning Labs  (2-4 hours of deep-dives on lesson content)
    • 2.5 day in-person workshop  Q1 2021 in Johannesburg, South Africa

    Advocacy Navigator

    The Advocacy Navigator mobilizes the expansive AVAC fellow alumni network to serve as mentors for a broader group of interested advocates. This course is designed for early-career professionals looking to jumpstart or strengthen their HIV prevention advocacy. Individuals who join the program gain access to the vast knowledge and experience of the alumni network while also participating in online coursework and advocacy strategy.

    Good Participatory Practice Online Training

    This course aims to support participants in understanding and applying foundational content in the Good Participatory Practice (GPP) Guidelines. Learners will become familiar with the principles and key practices for meaningful stakeholder participation in a research context. The course will draw from various infectious disease areas and the current environment of COVID-19 research to develop capacity around quick and responsive stakeholder engagement in research. Participants will also complete a strategic GPP action plan that aligns with their work and role in the field.   Participants will spend 2-4 hours/week on the course participating in group discussions, viewing online modules and completing assignments.
