🔬 THE SCIENCE

Science is often described as the study of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment. A science journalist must know and fully understand how scientists think and work – as this will enable them to better explain scientific processes and concepts to their audiences.

Journalists who wish to delve into the current science in HIV prevention must first know the basics of HIV science and the various proven prevention options and new prevention studies. They should also be able to report on implementation science, on pilot projects of newly proven prevention methods, and access to prevention options.

To better prepare you to report on HIV prevention, the five topics in this lesson will cover:

  • Scientific Method
  • HIV science
  • Biomedical HIV prevention
  • Implementation Science
  • Science Case Study
