📝 THE STORY
This lesson is devoted to the tricks and tools to make a science story shine. The famous ABCs of news writing are Accuracy, Brevity and Clarity. The same ABC goes for science news stories. It’s all just about good journalism – and this time, the story is biomedical HIV prevention. But it is a story with a difference. Here’s why:
The story of biomedical HIV prevention is one that can only be told over time, as it is about a combination of interventions and about evolving science – an enormous endeavor involving scientists, ethicists, study participants, advocates, activists, policymakers, modelers, statisticians and more. In time, we will look back over these stories from high prevalence countries and hope to show the difference journalists have made – by translating the science and highlighting human stories in science.
There are three topics in this lesson:
- Research Translation
- Telling the Human Story
- It’s all about good journalism
