Project Engage

Project Engage is a collaborative between CONRAD, USAID, and Gilead Sciences to advance new HIV prevention methods, especially for adolescent girls and young women in sub-Saharan Africa, through acceptability and adherence research activities. Research activities are focused on evaluating the acceptability of and adherence to the new Descovy® (F/TAF)-based oral PrEP regimen compared to Truvada® (F/TDF), as well as advancing innovative adherence support and monitoring tools essential to facilitating effective implementation of oral PrEP in this population.

CONRAD and FHI360 present a series of 3 workshops that build knowledge and skills of research methods aimed at the development and/or adaptation of composite measures for socio-behavioral constructs that may be culturally determined.

  • Workshop 1: is intended to discuss reasons for use of composite measures/assessment tools (e.g., scales, indexes) and general approaches to their development and validation
  • Workshop 2: focuses on ways to assess, adapt or refine the content of composite measures to ensure cultural fit, including some hands-on practice with qualitative and semi-structured approaches
  • Workshop 3: will walk through statistical approaches for scale development and validation, including exploratory factor analysis to reduce item content and confirmatory factor analysis to validate performance of measures and other approaches to construct and predictive validity

CONRAD and FSU present a series on mobile health (mHealth) tools that are aimed to improve sexual and reproductive health, with a focus on sub-Saharan Africa.

  • Webinar 1: a general overview of mHealth tools to improve HIV prevention and treatment outcomes, with a specific example of the Vuka+ app
